Alaska, known as “The Last Frontier”, has rightfully earned this designation. Unrivaled in beauty, huge in geographic size, Alaska is the ultimate destination for those who want to challenge themselves, the elements, and the greatest game animals North America has to offer.
Detail Company Adventures is now proud to offer you a combination (or individual species) hunt for two of the most sought after Alaska big game animals; the Barren Ground Grizzly Bear and the Alaska Yukon Moose.
Our outfitter/guide -Dewey Halverson- is a 9 time Iditarod Dog Sled Race finisher who has secured the finest trophy area in all Alaska for these two animals. You will hunt along the Bering Sea where the Grizzly are of world record size and the moose are in the 60” category.
You can pursue both animals from one location. You can choose to hunt only one species or take advantage of the outfitter’s incredible “in field” option which lets you “add” the second animal AFTER harvesting the first. This “in field” option is the most flexible hunt option available anywhere in the state of Alaska.
You will fly into camp from Unalakleet, Alaska with famed bush pilot Jim Tweto (Featured in Discovery Channel’s Flying Wild Alaska). All hunts are 10 days and you will hunt from all-terrain Argos. Most of the hunting is via spot and stalk, both for grizzly and moose. The grizzlies are the largest in the world because they feed along the Golsovia River where thousands of salmon fill the river each year to spawn. The grizzlies arein the 7-½ to 9-½ foot range and are of different color phases.
The moose are also exceedingly abundant and although a 50” moose is “legal”, you can expect to hunt moose in the 60+” range. The moose season runs from 1 September through 30 September. During this time period you can take advantage of the combination hunt, which allows you to harvest either, a moose or grizzly (for the same price) and then “in-field,” add the second animal. Our outfitter is authorized by the state of Alaska to write you a tag IN THE FIELD for that second animal thus saving you the expense of paying “up front” for both animals.
Other game animals such as black bear and wolf are also available for only a harvest fee.
Moose season runs from: September 1st through September 30th.
During your hunt you will stay in both a main camp and spike camps. The camps have plywood floors with canvas walls. There is a full time cook in camp to provide you with excellent meals. In addition to the primary camps, each Argo tows a toboggan behind it. This toboggan has a pop-up sleeping arrangement so that if you are several miles from your primary camp and spot a “shooter” in the very late afternoon, you can over night in the woods and be in position when the sun rises the next day. This is a true trophy hunt and you can expect to be rewarded with the finest grizzly and/or moose that Alaska has to offer.
Hunters will fly into Anchorage, Alaska and then fly via scheduled airline service into Unalakleet, Alaska. From Unalakleet you will take a “bush plane” into camp. The outfitter will arrange this bush plane flight to ensure you are in place to begin your hunt. The hunting area is in the Golsovia River drainage which flows into the Bering Sea. Following your 10 day hunt you will return to Anchorage in the afternoon with enough time to connect to most evening flights back to the lower 48 states or to international destinations.
