South Texas Hunting
Whether it’s bobwhite quail hunting, whitetail hunting, dove hunting or duck hunting, this South Texas ranch is the place for you to enjoy your hunting passion. Starting in September with dove hunts and continuing through the first week of May with turkey hunts, you can hunt multiple species including dove, bobwhite quail, whitetail, duck, Rio Grande turkey, javelina, wild hogs, nilgai and exotics like scimitar horned oryx and addax as well.
Hunters love the bobwhite quail hunting here because on average, they will see 15 coveys or more per day and when scenting conditions are ideal, as many as 25 coveys can be found. Hunts are available for wild bobwhite quail as well as augmented hunts where the quail are released from April through August and allowed to live in the wild for several months before being hunted.
Dove hunting is conducted over water holes either in the morning or late afternoon. Open fields of dove weed are also hunted in early morning and mid-afternoon to catch dove as they move from water or roost to a feeding area.
South Texas duck hunting is some of the best there is and this ranch has multiple pot holes scattered throughout the property which brings hundreds of ducks off the Laguna Madre marshes to spend time in fresh water during the morning. Early morning duck hunting provides for rapid shooting with large flocks descending on water holes over a very short period of time. Many duck hunts are completed before the sun even makes it over the horizon.
The most popular wingshooting trip here is the quail/dove/duck combo hunt. You arrive early Friday afternoon and hunt quail for 2-3 hours. Then it’s off to the water holes for a quick evening dove hunt. After a great dinner and overnight at the lodge, the next morning, you are up early for a duck hunt. As soon as that is completed, you have a tail gate breakfast and then it’s time for some bobwhite quail hunting. Lunch break is next with another round of bobwhite hunting in the early and mid-afternoon. To round out the day, you head back to the water holes and hunt dove again as the sun sets. Dinner and a quick night’s sleep before you are back up for another South Texas duck hunt on a pot hole. A delicious tail gate breakfast and then it’s off for one last bobwhite quail hunt before you pack up and head to the airport by noon. In two half days and one full day of hunting, you will have hunted 8 TIMES FOR 3 DIFFERENT SPECIES. That’s a hunt we can all get excited about. These hunts are VERY LIMITED due to season restrictions and can only be done in the first two weeks of January. Book this trip early as it fills very quickly.
Whitetail hunts are also available and range from trophy whitetail hunts, mature whitetail hunts and management whitetail hunts. We have full details available and can provide those to you if you are interested. The management buck hunts start at $2000 for two whitetail bucks 130 B&C points and below, one doe, one hog or javelina and any coyotes you see. Ask for more information on whitetail hunts if you are interested.
Nilgai hunts, turkey hunts, and hog and javelina hunts are also offered. Many of these animals can be added on to a whitetail hunt for a trophy fee as well. Just ask and we can provide the details.
Last but definitely not least, we have a Cast and Blast trip where you can hunt dove three times in three days and fish for speckled sea trout and redfish in the Laguna Madre Bay for one afternoon. This is an exciting trip and full of activity for those who like to hunt and fish.
