Both the mornings and afternoons are slated for duck hunting. The hunting is done just 1.5 to 2 hrs north of Managua in the Chinandega / Leon Pacific coastal area. This strikingly beautiful beach area is home to Nicaragua’s best duck hunting. Brackish waters separate massive feeding areas that attract millions of ducks every year. Airboats and mud boats comfortably get hunters to the most productive blinds and honey holes. The Heli-Hunt Program Nicaragua’s Most Exclusive Duck & Dove Hunting
To call DCA’s Nicaragua Heli-Hunt Program “unique” would be the understatement of the year. Hunters have their choice with this program – hunt all ducks, hunt all dove or make it a mixed-bag hunt. Each morning hunters are flown, in private helicopters, to various duck and dove hunting hot spots. The helicopters put the hunters in the best possible hunting situations otherwise inaccessible by land. This not only eliminates drive times, giving hunters more time in the field, but also provides breathtaking Pacific views. Because of the versatility that the helicopters provide, the duck and dove hunting can be done anywhere between the Chinandega / Leon area and the country’s furthest northwest corner, where the Golfo de Fonseca literally unites Nicaragua, El Salvador and Honduras.

Getting to Nicaragua
Just a 3-hr flight from Miami or a 2.5-hr flight from Houston, Nicaragua is one of the easiest world-class dove and duck hunting destinations for American hunters to reach. Both American Airlines and Continental offer convenient flights to Nicaragua’s capital city of Managua. For those hunting the Managua Program, only a 10-minute hotel transfer is needed. For the Chinandega Program, expect a comfortable 2-hour drive northwest upon arrival in Managua. Heli-Hunt hunters will simply take a helicopter ride from the Managua airport to the marina resort.

*Most hunting packages include five days, four nights and three full days of shooting.

*DCA will assist with gun permits for hunters wanting to bring their own guns to Nicaragua. Renting guns is also an option – currently $50 / per day. Beretta, Remington and AKKARS semi autos are available.
