Los Ombues is internationally acclaimed by discerning wing shooters who want and expect the very best in shooting, accommodations, staffing and amenities. Sitting on over 40,000 acres of private property, Los Ombues is a true bird hunting paradise and was the Orvis 2012 International Wing Shooting Lodge of the Year.
Best know for its “Mixed Bag” of duck, perdiz, and high volume dove shooting, all three birds are hunted each day by every guest during the season. When duck and perdiz are not available (off season), the dove hunting rivals that of Cordoba, Argentina.
During the duck and perdiz season (usually mid May through mid August), each hunter will have the opportunity to shoot three bird types all within 10 minutes of the lodge. The morning is dedicated to duck hunting over decoys where you will encounter hundreds of ducks of over ten different species (Withe Cheek Pintail, Silver Teal, Ringed Teal, Red Shoveler, Cinnamon Teal, Southern Widgeon, Brazilian Duck, Speckled Teal, Tree ducks and the sporty Rosy Billed Pochard). Accompanied by experienced “bird boys” who will call and retrieve your shot ducks you can expect to “limit out” by early morning and be back at the lodge before 10:00 a.m. A hearty breakfast will await you before you depart for perdiz hunting.
For those not familiar with perdiz, they are similar to quail, but are usually found in singles or occasionally doubles ,but never large coveys. All hunting is on the lodge property, and the hunting is done over beautifully trained dogs. Hunters are usually divided into groups of 2, each group with its own dog and handler.
The third bird type is dove. Dove may be hunted year round and are always present. They can be hunted even when the “mixed bag” season is not available. There are literally hundreds of thousands of dove present and you can expect to shoot 1 to 2 cases of shells every evening.
Los Ombues was designed and built specifically to cover every expectation of the bird shooting enthusiast. The lodge has 9 spacious double guest rooms, each with a private bath. The lounge and dining room have panoramic windows which overlook an endless expanse of delta march and hunting area. There is a heated mudroom for removing and drying waders, boots and clothing; a gun cleaning room; a state-of-the-art kitchen; and a large living room area with comfortable chairs and sofas which surround a beautiful fireplace. To stay “connected”, the lodge also has a business center which offers long-distance telephone, fax, and wireless broadband internet.
The lodge is located in Entre Rios Province, approximately 250 miles northwest of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Several international airlines serve Buenos Aires and nonstop service is offered from Dallas Ft. Worth, Miami, Houston, and New York. After arriving in Buenos Aires there are two ways to get to the lodge;either by vehicle or by private charter aircraft. Vehicle travel time is approximately 4 ½ hours, charter aircraft travel time is approximately 1 hour. The lodge has its own grass landing strip which is less than 1 mile from the lodge itself. Charter price varies depending upon type of aircraft and number of passengers, please ask for quotes.
“The trip was a new adventure for my grandson and I think the weather was about perfect. This marks the 18th hunt in Argentina and you two guys are the only that stayed consistent in your offering of a great hunt. Someone asked me how long you had been outfitting and I told him I knew of you when the senior John Blocker was in Argentina. Just how long has it been?”
“This was my 4th. trip to Los Ombues. That speaks for itself. Better bird hunting can’t be found anywhere. A professionally managed operation and friendly staff. Great accommodations, excellent food and relaxed atmosphere. I highly recommend the lodge.”

“Our group of 8 had a fantastic experience at Los Ombues. Transfers between Buenos Aries and the lodge went without any issues as they arranged an escort to meet us at flight arrival and transfer thru the airport to the air charters. The ‘Mixed Bag’ hunt of ducks in the morning, Perdiz mid day and doves in the afternoon was great. Birds were plentiful and almost over whelming. Juan Pablo’s very accommodating field guides ensured the field experience was as good as it gets. Especially meeting up in the evening for a beverage, conversation of the day’s hunt and viewing the river flats with a beautiful sunset backdrop. The Lodge staff and accommodations were inviting, they took care of every detail and they ensured you felt ‘at home’. Great meals matched with Juan Pablo’s superb Malbec wines and conversation added to an overall FANTASTIC MIXED BAG HUNT.”
